Purpose of the Courses

It is very difficult for an agent selling residential property to remain current with all the residential service contracts available. Many real estate offices are now "closed" to outside vendors, thereby compounding the problem. The course is designed to give real estate agents a better general understanding of residential service contracts.

Relevance of the Courses

To fulfill his or her responsibility, a real estate professional must disclose available information that could affect the sale of a home. This course will identify the many advantages of full disclosure of residential service contracts. In addition, it has been designed to make the real estate professional aware of general limitations and exclusions with residential service contracts.

Course Content Summary

In the 3 Hour Course, (Course # 03-00-128-5470), we teach about the residential service company act, as well as the value of residential service contracts. We review what a typical service contract covers, along with what it does not cover. We also talk about the residential service contract terminology.

This course also stresses the importance of residential service contract disclosure to both sellers and buyers and the benefits to the real estate agent of using residential service contracts.

We do not do a comparison of residential service contracts in Texas nor go into detail about any one particular "home warranty" company.

In the NEW 1 Hour Course, (Course # 01-00-080-7098), we teach about the many changes in Residential Service Contracts over the past two years, and updates of coverages now in those contracts. This class is very informative and can be taught in a "Sales Meeting" time frame.
